






Humiliation as deal with embattled Rangel axed at 11th hour: report

It's been a humiliating day for Harlem Congressman Charlie Rangel.
First, a plea deal appeared to be reached to settle ethics charges against the Manhattan congressman. Then, it seems, that deal fell apart and Rangel was publically accused of committing 13 ethics violations.
They had a deal, but in the eleventh hour, it went sour.
Sources told CBS 2's Marcia Kramer that despite an agreement between Rangel's lawyers committee lawyers, Republican congressmen suddenly demanded more concessions – and Rangel refused.
"Our obligation is to act fairly and without bias or partisanship," Rep. Zoe Lofgren, chair of the House ethics committee, said.
