LOS ANGELES, July 30 (UPI) -- One person was killed and another injured Friday in an apparent explosion at a welding shop in Los Angeles, firefighters reported.
The LA fire department said search dogs had been dispatched to the business at 911 E. 59th St. where the blast collapsed the roof and, according to KNX-AM, Los Angeles, hurled at least two people into the street.
A resulting fire was knocked down in about 25 minutes by the 100 firefighters who responded.
A fire department spokesman at the scene told reporters a natural-gas leak was suspected as the cause.
