SAN FRANCISCO, July 31 (UPI) -- Aubrey Huff had three RBI in support of Tim Lincecum Friday and San Francisco gained ground in the division with a 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Giants survived a shaky ninth inning to move within 2 1/2 games of National League West-leading San Diego.

Lincecum (11-4) did not figure in the decision in either of his last two starts and had to sweat out a shaky ninth inning before picking up Friday's victory.

San Francisco took a 6-2 lead into the ninth and wound up using four pitchers to get through the frame.

Scott Podsednik, obtained in a trade this week with Kansas City, tripled in a run in the ninth and scored on a wild pitch. Matt Kemp had an RBI single later in the inning and the Dodgers had the tying run on third base before Chris Ray got Casey Blake to ground into a fielder's choice to end the game.

Ray was credited with his second save. Huff doubled in two runs in the third and he hit his 20th homer of the year in the seventh.

Los Angeles starter Carlos Monasteries (3-3) took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings.
